Scholarship Program

The community foundation offers a wide variety of scholarships for students like you, provided by the generosity of local donors. Whether you are a high school senior, a current college student, or a non-traditional student we work with donors to help people like you take the next step in your education.

Timeline

*Due to the climate of the new FAFSA, we are extending our 2024 scholarship application deadline from February 15th, to March 1st.

  2. Take an online eligibility assessment to match you with scholarship opportunities. *The eligibility assessment is available from November 1st to February 15th.
  3. Fill out the application(s) and submit!

We currently manage 32 scholarships and have awarded more than $741,000 on behalf of donors since 1999. Each fund has its own unique set of criteria established by the donor. Click on the drop down menu below to see a list of current scholarship funds and their specific criteria.

Alice A. Riggs Ell-Saline K-State Scholarship

  • Ell-Saline seniors going to K-State

Alma Olson & Michael T. Olson Scholarship

  • Students attending or planning to attend North Central Kansas Technical College (Beloit or Hays campus) pursuing a building trade degree

Betts Family Scholarship

  • Students qualified for graduation from Decatur Community High School

Booker T. Washington Scholarship

  • African-American graduating high school seniors from Saline County high school

Brian C. Garnett Scholarship

  • Salina Central High School graduating senior

C.L. Clark Scholarship

  • Graduates of a Saline County, KS, high school attending the University of Kansas School of Law or Washburn University School of Law

Col. Delbert Townsend Scholarship

  • Decatur Community High School, Oberlin, KS, graduating seniors

Coyne Family Scholarship

  • First-generation college student whose parents are immigrants

David A. and M. Marguerite Parker Scholarship

  • Tescott High School, Tescott, KS, graduating seniors

David E. Freeland Accounting and Business Administration Scholarship

  • Saline County High School seniors attending Kansas State University

Decatur Community Scholarship

  • Decatur Community High School, Oberlin, KS graduating seniors

Donald A. Smischny Educator Scholarship

  • Kansas high school seniors, students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs, or current professionals pursuing a teaching career at USD 327 in Ellsworth, Kansas.

Emily E. Shobe Memorial Art Scholarship

  • Decatur Community High School, Oberlin, KS, graduating seniors pursuing additional studies/training in Art or Art Education, Computer Graphics, Architecture or Design

Erik Erickson Memorial Scholarship

  • Decatur Community High School, Oberlin, KS, graduating seniors

First Bank Kansas Scholarship

  • Kansas Wesleyan University students pursuing a business degree

Florence Evelyn Westhoff Scholarship

  • Graduating high school seniors or a graduate from a Salina high school with connections to University United Methodist Church (UUMC), Salina, KS.  Kansas Wesleyan University students may also apply.

Frances E. Curtis NAACP Scholarship

  • Graduating high school seniors or a graduate from a high school located in Dickinson, Ottawa or Saline Counties, with ties to NAACP-Salina

Gayle & Evelyn Richmond Scholarship

  • Graduating high school seniors from a high school in Plainville, Stockton, Natoma, or Palco, KS.

Glenn L. & Edna M. Mott Memorial Scholarship

  • Decatur Community High School, Oberlin, KS graduating seniors

Hale Family Sunflower Promise Scholarship

  • Graduating community college students planning to attend a 4-year post-secondary institution in Kansas

Jeanne & George Frisbie Scholarship

  • Southeast of Saline High School, KS, graduating senior

Jeanne B. Marts Scholarship

  • Any Saline County, KS, graduating high school senior planning to major in elementary education or secondary education

Jody & Doyle Fredrickson Nursing & Health Scholarship

  • Graduating senior or graduate from a high school within the Dane G. Hansen Foundation service area, which is defined as the 26 counties in northwest Kansas north of I-70 and west of I-135/Hwy 81 who are pursuing a major in nursing or another health related field. Preference will be given to students who are a graduate of or who are qualified from Decatur Community High School- Oberlin, KS.

Kansas Federation of Republican Women Scholarship

  • Any Kansas registered Republican female college student entering at least her junior year or that is attending graduate school at a Kansas college or university with a declared major of Political Science, History, Public Administration, Healthcare, Law or Education

Kurt Budke Scholarship

  • Students entering their sophomore year or above in college who plan on attending Louisiana Tech University, Oklahoma State University, Washburn University, or Wichita State University.

Larry and Millie Triplett Scholarship Fund

  • Graduates or students in good standing qualifying for graduation from a Kansas high school in the following Triplett, Inc., service areas: Dickinson County, Ellis County, McPherson County, Russell County, Saline County, Sherman County, Thomas County, Trego County, and Wabaunsee County.

Linda K. Freeland Early Childhood Education Scholarship

  • High school senior from Saline County, KS, with an intended major of early childhood education.

Marcella Dowling Oakes Art Scholarship

  • For students qualifying for graduation from a high school within the service area of GSCF or its affiliates with an intended major in an art field including, but not limited to visual arts, fine arts education, digital/graphic arts, architecture or design.

Mary Olson & Viola Olson Gustafson Scholarship

  • Students attending or planning to attend Cloud County Community College, Concordia, KS, to obtain a degree in nursing or a related medical field

Orpha J. & Ernest Milbradt Scholarship

  • Any Kansas graduating high school senior attending Kansas State University or the University of Kansas

Richard & Lou Ann Bergen Scholarship in the Creative Arts

  • Graduating high school senior from a Saline County High School with an interest in creative arts.

Tetlow-Downs Community Scholarship

  • Graduating high school senior or graduate from Lakeside High School, Downs, KS, with plans to major in a STEM area (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math).  Agriculture will be considered if part of a STEM area.

Wally Beets-John Marino Scholarship

  • Any Salina area graduating high school senior or graduate that has been employed at the Salina Country Club, Salina, KS

Community Foundation for Cloud County:

Cloud County Cloud Ceramics Masonry

  • Students attending a post-secondary masonry or building trades program at a Vo-Tech, Technical College or Community College
